I attach reports concerning several new recruits. (1) Dorling. This man's vision is technically 6/60 which means that for practical purposes he is blind, I attach Dr. Harston's report. It is true that with glasses his vision

can be made good but I M that. If you do not approve glasses the man must be sent home. It would be sheer madness to keep him as an active member of the Police Force. This is the present condition, it will be the future condition but I cannot state with certainty that it was so in the past.

I think Dr. Esler was justified in raising an objection.

(3) Rowe. This man is useless as an officer. I have had to detain him in the Asylum and his nervous system is so unsuitable that I would not pass him as fit for the least responsibility.

I do not think that I would or would have come to this conclusion from a single examination.

YO (4) McGuire. This man is suffering from such a degree

of netre weakness that I fear his services as a police officer could not be relied upon.
